Concrete block retaining wall certified structural engineering drawing and details Australia

About this product

This type of retaining wall is engineered using 150 and 200 series concrete blocks. The retaining wall can be constructed in a wide range of applications and can withstand up to 5kPa surcharge.

The online cost does not include specific certification required in Victoria. For projects in Melbourne we can provide certification as we are a Registered Building Practitioner Victoria. For projects in Victoria, please send us an online enquiry with the site plan and the geotechnical report and we will provide a site specific quotation for engineering.

The structure classification under the Building Code of Australia for a retaining wall is a Class 10b structure. The structural engineering, drawing, details and construction specification for the concrete blocks retaining wall is in accordance with the performance requirements of the National Construction Code and certified by a Chartered Professional Structural Engineer.

The retaining wall has been designed to withstand fence load over and will be adequate to support the wind loads imposed by 1800 mm high post & rail fence (Colorbond fencing or similar), with max post spacing to be 2400mm or an 1800mm high embedded fence. Therefore, the concrete blocks retaining wall can be used for wind loading in Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Criteria for retaining wall requirements, development and building approval requirements are to be confirmed with the local government authority.

Order online

Order the standard certified retaining wall structural engineering drawings online and receive the signed structural engineering drawings in 2 to 5 business days. In some cases, it may take longer as we will assess the site plan for impact on existing services or structure.

Concrete block Retaining Wall Construction Requirements

We recommend that earthworks and site preparation is conducted in accordance with AS3798 "Guidelines on Earthworks for Commercial and Residential Developments".

Generally, this site preparation involves the removal of all organic material, rubbish, trees/stumps and back fill with clean compacted sand free of any voids. Place clean compacted sand fill to achieve the specified finished ground Levels. Compact to achieve minimum 7 blows per 300mm using a calibrated sand penetrometer and obtain compaction test certificates prior to pouring footings and retain for quality assurance.

Construct the footings as per the structural footing details. The footing detail recommended requires ongoing maintenance of the site to ensure its structural performance. Refer to CSIRO publication 10-91 “Guide to Home Owners on Foundation Maintenance and Footing Performance” for details. These recommendations and footing details provided are based on performance as defined in AS2870.

Engineering Plans Australia are a Registered Building Practitioner Victoria (RPBV) and can provide the structural engineering certification for projects in the Melbourne Area.
